PT Voksel Electric Tbk –established on 19 April 1971 in Jakarta–, is one of the leading cable manufacturers in Indonesia. The company scope of business includes manufacturing power, telecommunication and fiber optic cables for both local and export.
In the year 2005, the net sales of PT. Voksel Electric Tbk., were recorded at Rp. 803,3 billion. These were outstanding 35,6 % increased compared to 2004 net sales. The breakdown of this percentage was Power Cable sales, increased by 32 %, where the majority sales still came from PLN; Copper Power Cable sales increased by 10,6 %; Telephone Cable sales increased by 42,2 % and Fiber Optic Cable sales has significantly increased by 204 % compared to the last year, where the majority sales came directly from PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia or from its contractors.
In 1989, PT Voksel Electric Tbk changed its status from domestic to foreign capital investment following its joint venture with Showa Electric Wire and Cable Co., Ltd., Japan and became a public company listed in Jakarta and Surabaya Stock Exchange since 20 December 1990.
