Consultant -Writer and Designer
(UNDP Indonesia Annual Report 2007), Jakarta
UNDP Indonesia’s mission is to be an agent for change in the human and social development of Indonesia. We aim to be a bridge between Indonesia and all donors as well as a trusted partner to all stakeholders. We work in four key areas of development: Governance Reforms, Pro-Poor Policy Reforms, Conflict Prevention and Recovery, and Environment Management, with the overarching aim of reducing poverty in Indonesia. Besides the four priority areas, UNDP Indonesia is also engaged in a variety of crosscutting initiatives focused on HIV/AIDS, gender equality, and information and technology for development.
As part of our effort to communicate UNDP Indonesia achievements in 2007 to our stakeholders, UNDP Indonesia publishes an Annual Report. The report is distributed to our partners in government, the donor community, civil society organizations, and academia, among others. The Annual Report summarizes the achievements of our collaboration with the Government of Indonesia throughout the year, taking stock of agreed achievements and revised targets of our programmes and projects in Indonesia with our government counterparts. This year?s report is expected to be results-focussed, championing the UNDP contribution to development effectiveness. To achieve this, we require an individual with a track record in writing, editing and designing similar reports for large public or private international organizations and can communicate complex messages in simple English.
The 2007 Annual Report should be an award winning product, highlighting results jointly achieved with national counterparts in 2007. To achieve this the consultant is expected to meet UNDP corporate standards and expectations and deliver a creative, insightful and easy to read product accessible to the general public and a range of stakeholders. The writer is expected to achieve the following results in the prescribed timeframe (8 weeks):
UNORC / Kabupaten Recovery Forum (KRF)
Associate Facilitation Officer, Indonesia
Organizational Context
More than 165,000 people lost their lives in Aceh and Nias as a result of the tsunami of 26 December 2004 and the earthquake of 28 March 2005. While the emergency response to those affected by the disasters was swift and generous, the need for significant ongoing support is obvious. The need to build capacity in the decentralized and democratic coordination of recovery and reconstruction programmes at the district/city level is critical for sustained recovery and longer-term development and is anticipated to continue at least until the end of April, 2009. The Office of the UN Recovery Coordinator for Aceh and Nias (UNORC) is therefore planning to recruit experienced Associate KRF Facilitation Officers to support the ongoing efforts of UNORC Field Offices and the policy and programmes of UNORC Headquarters.
Corporate Competencies:
Demonstrates integrity by modeling the UN?s values and ethical standards. Promotes the mission, vision and strategic goals of UNORC. Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.
